October Performance Camp 2024:
The month of October saw the Jason Floyd Golf Academy host students for our annual half term camp over the last week in October (28th-1st). The students arrived at the academy on Monday receiving a meeting with lead coaches Matthew and Daniel before starting their JFGA Journey.
Firstly after warming up on the Golf range the players all received personal coaching and assessment. Our team assessed each golfer’s technique and provided specific guidance based on their anatomy to bring out their best. The academy prides itself on our state-of-the-art technology to drive measurable results. Tools such as Trackman, BioSwing and SportsBox 3D allow the coaching staff to deliver in depth insights into a students’ swing mechanics, allowing them to guide the student to optimising their accuracy and power.
Secondly the students moved onto our kinetix team, who focus on going above and beyond with physical conditioning. The golfers all participated in strength, mobility and flexibility assessments led by experienced coaches. Through a series of tests the students were able to gauge how their body moves and reacts to certain forms of rotation etc. Therefore, providing areas of improvement and further depth into what their unique swing should look like, why it is this way and most importantly how to gain the most from it.
These assessments provide the basis for the entire camp and allow the coaches to provide the most beneficial advice they can based on the knowledge learnt from these assessments.
The rest of the week, involved application of the data of each golfer. Their time was equally spent on the golf range or the golf courses (San Roque Old Course and San Roque Golf Resort). During which students learnt many methods of intentional practice, adjusting their mindsets and techniques. In addition to this, many ways of ‘playing smart’ on the course were taught to give an alternative perspective to the way the golfers typically play, such as; what a good miss is, dispersion zones and miss percentages.
As students worked with our mental performance team during their time on the golf course, they learnt about the importance of patience, affirmation, routines and breathing exercises and their impact on their golf game. Allowing the golfers to learn how to be more concentrated, confident and composed on the course and handle the pressures of competitive play.
However golf is as much about camaraderie than about competition and the Jason Floyd Golf Academy recognises this, fostering a friendly team-oriented environment for all the students at our camps to make friends, learn together, and grow as players and people.
We want to thank all of the students who attended our camps and making the week such an enjoyable experience.
