Hi everyone!
My name is Erik Jansson, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new University Search Director at the Jason Floyd Golf Academy (JFGA).
I grew up in Sweden and picked up golf at the age of six, playing alongside my father. At first, it was about impressing him, but over time I fell deeply in love with the game. That passion led me into regional and national tournaments, and later to the Swedish National High School of Golf, where I had the privilege of training and competing with players such as Ludvig Åberg and Linn Grant — names now making headlines on the PGA and LPGA Tours.
Taking the Leap: From Sweden to U.S. College Golf
After high school, I made the decision to pursue college golf in the United States. I began at Barton College (Division II) before transferring to Jacksonville State University (Division I) in Alabama. I will admit, the culture shock was real at first. Coming from Sweden to a mid-sized school in rural Alabama was a big adjustment, but it quickly became one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
During my time in the U.S., I was fortunate to:
- Win two Division I tournaments
- Travel across the country competing on incredible golf courses
- Grow not only as a golfer but also as a person
More than victories, the experience gave me independence, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Looking back, choosing to play college golf in the U.S. was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Why College Golf Scholarships Matter?
At the Jason Floyd Golf Academy, our mission is to prepare student-athletes not only for competition but also for life beyond the course. For many, a college golf scholarship in the U.S. represents a unique opportunity:
- Access to world-class education
- Competing at a high level of amateur golf
- Exposure to opportunities like the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)
- Developing as both an athlete and an individual

My Role at Jason Floyd Golf Academy
As University Search Director, my role is to guide JFGA students through this process: from scholarship applications to university placements. Having lived the journey myself, I understand both the challenges and the incredible rewards it can bring.
